Title: Storm Dragon
Series: Kundalis
Author: Frances Pauli
Release Date: June 19, 2014
Genre: NA/ Fantasy

Karin knows she’s gone completely insane—nuts—absolutely batshit crazy, when she spots an insidious blue dragon twining through the trees at a rest stop in the Cascade Mountains. Despite agreeing to join her roommate at a psychic fair, she’s never believed in anything metaphysical. She’s pretty sure the Reiki treatment she succumbed to has brought on a frighteningly realistic hallucination—until they roll their mini-van in the middle of I-90, and she is rescued from the vehicle by the same monstrous blue figment of her imagination.

She awakens to find that she’s been delivered to a cabin high in the mountains instead of to a proper hospital. The “doctor” looking out for her is more of a new-ager than a physician, and the people who own the house, including the urban highlander version of Fabio, don’t have any intention of letting her leave.

Faced with the unimaginable, and strapped to an all-too-real dragon, Karin must decide how to tame the beast or risk losing herself to it forever.

Author Bio: Frances Pauli writes across multiple genres. Her work is speculative, full of the fantastic, and quite often romantic at its core. Whenever possible, she enjoys weaving in a little humor. Once upon a time she was a visual artist, but she's since come to her senses. Now she fills her miniscule amount of free time with things like crochet, belly dance and abysmal ukulele playing. She lives in Central Washington State with her husband, two children, a pair of hairless dogs and five tarantulas.

Coffee Shop Talks #49

Welcome to Coffee Shop Talks!!! Inspired from Giselle at Xpresso Reads's meme Book Girls Don't Cry...They Vent, every Monday I will be getting together with Traci (Mad Hatter Reads), Cat and Jamie (Addicted 2 Heroines), and Nette (Nette's Bookshelf Reviews) and we're going to talk, vent, gush, and advise about different bookish related topics, so grab your cup of joe because we all need coffee in the morning, have a seat and join the conversation.

Spp...I totally stole the above graphic from Cat at Addicted 2 Heroines...she's pretty freaking rad!

So I personally enjoy unique names....to an extent. I love Pritkin from the Cassandra Palmer series, the unusualness of the name made his character that much more awesome for me. I also loved Hermoine from the Harry Potter series and Katniss from the Hunger Games.

Names I struggle with are pretty much every one in the Game of Thrones books, its distracting at times but the books are good enough to push past it :D

What about you? Any unusual names from books you either love or hate?

Series that I still need to Finish...

Ok so a lot of my series are either recently ended or ongoing and I'm just behind but here's whee I'm at...

I still need to finish Cassandra Clare's Clockwork books, I own 1 and 2 but have only read 1. I also need to finish the Mortal Instruments. I've read 1-3 so far

I also still have not finished the final book in the Cat & Bones series or the final Sookie Stackhouse book. I just don't want either one to end!

And then I'm behind on Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld books. I still need to read The Darkest Craving!

What about you? What series do you need to finish?

When a family celebration threatens to turn into a disaster, there is only one person to blame- Asia Thompson, a member of the pack who also holds the title of Draven’s former first love.

After fighting almost impossible odds, Jes and Draven are finally together, but emotions are high strung now that Asia has shown up unannounced with the intention to take what she thinks she’s entitled to, including Draven.

Dealing with the protocol of Draven’s pack leaves a sour taste in Jes’ mouth. She’s battled every inner demon she has in order to be with her man. She wants their family to be first, not second which is easier said than done when she feels Draven is choosing his pack over family.

The pack has a way of digging their claws into their happily ever-after, pulling Draven further and further from his family’s needs. With Asia’s manipulative schemes combined with the conflict over their daughter’s birthday ritual, the couple’s bond is truly tested.

Morgan valiantly fights, protecting these last remnants of magic in a war he's not sure he can actually win.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Jaren Reese is just another red collar trapped at the bottom of Descarta’s genetic caste system. But in the Dream Box, he has forged a new digital identity for himself: Balmus, the Wolf Knight.

Balmus has long since carried a torch for the Linker Petra, but he doesn’t know her, not really. Outside of the Dream Box she is just another one of his fantasies. But Brea Morgen is the real thing– a living, breathing person who desires Jaren for who he truly is, not merely what he pretends to be.

When the Dream Box that Jaren depends on crashes due to the evolution of a hostile A.I. life form, a secret military branch commissions a team of gamers and hackers to go back into the corrupted Dream Box to eliminate the threat and Jaren is given the chance of a lifetime—though it comes at a price—and Jaren now needs to decide just how much he’s willing to lose because the war about to be waged will be one on two fronts - the corporeal and the virtual.

Sci-Fi romance
Vashia’s father is the planetary governor. Unfortunately, he’s also a complete bastard. When he promises her to his lackey, Jarn, she panics. On the run in the nastiest corner of the galaxy, Vashia seizes her one chance at escape and signs on as a bride candidate for the elusive race of aliens known as the Shrouded, unaware that she very well may be chosen as the next Queen of Shroud

Of the seven, volatile Shrouded princes, Dolfan may be the only one that doesn't covet the throne. So the last thing he expects to find in the future queen is the woman of his dreams. If he wants Vashia, he must accept the throne as well. Unfortunately, his long-time rival has the same idea. Now, only the planet’s sacred crystal can decide their fates, but what happens when the right woman is paired with the wrong man? And when Jarn comes after what was promised to him?

Sci-Fi

When the surface of Earth was ruinously contaminated by radiation, it became a forbidden sanctuary. Though orphaned in the blackness of space, civilization struggled onward, persevering in sterile isolation. Now, centuries later, while the mighty space-faring superpowers war tirelessly for control of the solar system, humanity has adapted too well to its new home. None could survive exposure to a natural world.
Or so it was understood.

In the midst of a catastrophic but ultimately meaningless wargame, faced with imminent death from every direction, one remarkable Jovan fighter pilot chose to die pursuing a dream: the dream to look upon the landscapes of Earth with his own eyes. What he could never have anticipated was surviving the experience.

Faced with both unspeakable beauty and terrible hardship, Jon has the singular opportunity to gaze into the mysteries of the past, and to stumble into the embrace of humanity's future

Sci-Fi

When daily life already tests the boundaries of our ability to persevere, the addition of a disaster—natural or otherwise—can amplify suffering beyond endurance, and the barrage of ghostly green meteors illuminating the skies of Earth one warm summer evening is far from natural.

In the isolated Appalachian town of Brighton Hollow, all events thus far in the lives of the people are about to become tragically irrelevant as the landscape is pummeled by mysterious objects from the sky, each one containing a tiny harbinger of chaos. Caitlin Kingsley, the troubled stepdaughter of tyrannical county sheriff Leon Briggs, is among the first to discover the beautiful and terrible secret of the strange interstellar rock fall. Deputy Sheriff Rex Logan, already plagued with problems of his own, is charged with finding answers in a world that has gone abruptly dark and quiet, while each successive day seems to bring them all one step closer to annihilation.

With cries for help echoing in the static of a communications blackout, food, fuel, and ammunition become desperate currency. A winter unlike any other looms just ahead, and the citizens of Brighton Hollow must hunker down and fight for their survival: against the elements, against each other, and against the inhuman hunger waiting in the hills, more ravenous with every passing hour

Sci-Fi, Space Opera

Traveling between the galaxies at sub-light velocities, entire worlds may live and die before the journey ends.

When an alien threat passed through the Galaxy of Man, sowing destruction in its wake, humanity ran at any cost, reaching for the safety of the dimmest and most distant lights in the night skies. Little thought could be spared for what would become of survivors left behind while the voyagers slept their sleep of death, unchanging over eons.

And now, less than a billion years before Andromeda and the Galaxy of Man are fated to pass through one other like wraiths in the night, the first sub-light transports are reaching Andromeda. Awaiting them as their cargo awaken are wonders and terrors beyond imagining. Few would survive without a helping hand.

Chayn Jahil, born upon a derelict ark and rescued by a mysterious being beyond human ken, is joined by Villimy Dy, scion of a diminutive blue-skinned race with reflexes and intellect almost too quick to follow. Together they must struggle not only to survive, but to find and understand humanity's multitudinous offspring, starting anew at the far edge of time and space

Coffee Shop Talks #47

Sunday, March 30, 2014 with

Welcome to Coffee Shop Talks!!! Inspired from Giselle at Xpresso Reads's meme Book Girls Don't Cry...They Vent, every Monday I will be getting together with Traci (Mad Hatter Reads), Cat and Jamie (Addicted 2 Heroines), and Nette (Nette's Bookshelf Reviews) and we're going to talk, vent, gush, and advise about different bookish related topics, so grab your cup of joe because we all need coffee in the morning, have a seat and join the conversation.

Tips for New Bloggers:
1. Get Connected! Blogging can be so much fun or it can be a heck of a lot of work. Get connected with other bloggers and make blogging more fun and engaging. Also make connections so that you have someone to lean on and ask for advice. You can meet new bloggers through blogs themselves or through community groups found on BookBlogs, Library Thing, and GoodReads.

2. Be consistent. If you want to gain followers and build up your audience, you need to post regular and engaging content. This typically means you should be posting 3-5x per week! Once a week really doesn't cut it anymore. People want to see more :D

3. Be attractive. There are many bloggers who have large followers and never bothered with professional blog designs and thats great! But that doesn't work for more and there are a ton of blog designers out there that are super affordable OR if you're the creative type, design your own! But try and avoid the standard blogger template and basic header that everyone out there has. Make your blog unique to you!

4. Last but not least, be yourself, and be original!
